Aidan O’Connell has been a steady contributor for Purdue throughout his career, and he dialed up another crucial performance in Week 13. With the B1G West on the line, O’Connell threw for 290 yards and 2 touchdowns without a turnover against Indiana.

In the final moments of Purdue’s victory, O’Connell was seen visibly emotional on Purdue’s sideline. While some might have expected O’Connell’s emotions were simply stemming from the victory, head coach Jeff Brohm alluded to something else after the game.

During Brohm’s postgame press conference, the head coach of the Boilermakers battled his own emotions while describing O’Connell’s impact. While Brohm declined to specify the situation, he did say the QB has “a lot going on right now.”

“Aidan’s got a lot going on right now. Not going to say anything, but he’s emotional for a lot of reasons,” said Brohm. “But he played really hard, he stepped up to the plate when his teammates needed him. Gave us great effort all year long, doesn’t matter what’s going on, he gives us great effort.

“Really proud of him, him and his family. We appreciate everything they’ve done for us, and we’re gonna be with him.”

We’ll see if we find out more about O’Connell’s situation during the week. For now, Purdue will celebrate its B1G West title and prepare for a matchup with Michigan.
