Aidan O’Connell’s second job must be as a magician. At least, that’s what Michigan State’s defense is thinking after this incredible escape by Purdue’s QB.

Facing a 3rd-and-goal, O’Connell dropped back to pass but was quickly met by the Spartan rush. It looked like O’Connell was bound to be sacked and force a field goal.

Then, O’Connell slipped a couple of would-be tacklers and stepped up. Instead of trying to find room to run, he was able to keep his eyes up and connect with David Bell for the opening score.

Michigan State has since tied the game at 7-all early, but Purdue’s offense is off to a strong start against the No. 3 Spartans. If the Boilermakers want to pull this one off, they will need another big outing from O’Connell and Bell in Week 10.
