One highly-seeded B1G team has already fallen, will we see another?

At Lucas Oil Stadium, No. 4 seed Purdue trails No. 13 seed North Texas 32-24 at halftime. Despite strong play from the Boilermakers down the final stretch of the season, they struggled in the first half of Friday’s game against the Mean Green.

Earlier in the day, No. 2 seed Ohio State fell to No. 15 seed Oral Roberts in overtime.

North Texas had a balanced attack offensively with Thomas Bell scoring 9 points, Javion Hamlet getting 8, and Mardrez McBride chipping in 6. The Mean Green made nearly 50% of their shots from the floor, including 5-of-11 from behind the arc.

Purdue’s top two scorers in the opening half were Sasha Stefanovic and Jaden Ivey, scoring 9 and 8 points respectively. The Boilermakers made just 7-of-23 attempts in the first half and were 3-of-12 from 3-point range.

Before entering the B1G Tournament, Purdue had won its final five games of the regular season. The Boilers were then bounced out of the conference tournament in their opening game against Ohio State.

The Boilers are trying to avoid the same fate.
