Big Ten Network’s Joshua Perry has been to every school in the B1G for his preseason tour and his last stop was to Purdue to look at the Boilermakers.

As always, Perry provided his 3 takeaways from what he saw, just like he did for all the other B1G schools he visited. His first one dealt with defensive lineman George Karlaftis, who’s one of the Boilermakers’ best returning players.

“George Karlaftis, potentially the best defensive linemen we’ve seen all camp. He was setting a firm edge, he was getting after the passer and doing everything you want him to do. Hopefully, we get to see him in a full year this year. It’ll be really exciting to watch.

Perry also seemed impressed with Purdue’s offense, especially receiver David Bell.

The offensive skill was just phenomenal. You see some of the receivers running around, especially (David) Bell, looked really good. Mid-season form. I’m excited to see what this offense looks like. We’ve known Purdue to be explosive at times on offense so that’ll be really exciting.”

Perry then ended his short video by touching on the mentality of the team and how that could be crucial for the Boilermakers this season.

Number three is this mentality that they have. It was probably one of the most animated practices that we’ve seen in terms of coaches getting on people, players getting on other players after practice. They’ve got this idea of being aggressive and finishing. If they can put that together, I think they’ve got a chance this year.
