Nearly 40 years have passed since Purdue last found itself in the Final Four.

1980 was the last time the Boilermakers reached a Final Four, despite having several great teams and winning numerous B1G titles in that stretch. But that nearly four-decade drought could be coming to an end.

Well, at least according to college basketball expert Seth Davis.

Following the release of the 2019 NCAA Tournament bracket, Davis was asked to make his Final Four and national champion picks before action gets underway on Tuesday. Purdue fans are going to love Davis’ picks.

Davis has Purdue reaching the Final Four, ending an ugly dry spell for the program. Along with the Boilers, Davis has Duke, Gonzaga and Kentucky all reaching college basketball’s pinnacle.

He has Duke winning the championship.

Purdue enters the tournament as a three seed and will play Old Dominion in the Round of 64. The Boilermakers ended the season with a 23-9 record and co-champions of the B1G regular season.

After a 6-5 start, Purdue won 17 of its final 21 games. It lost its first-round matchup in the conference tournament to Minnesota on Friday.

Still, with Carsen Edwards and so many quality pieces, Purdue has a good chance to make a deep run in the NCAA Tournament. The Boilermakers’ pursuit of a Final Four begins Thursday night.
