David Bell played through injury in Purdue's season finale vs. Indiana
In what was likely David Bell’s final time playing at Ross-Ade Stadium, the star wide receiver put pain aside in an effort to help lead Purdue to a win over Indiana. It paid off.
Bell ended Saturday’s game with 79 yards and a touchdown on 6 catches to lead the Boilermakers in a convincing 44-7 win over the Hoosiers. But it’s not the numbers that were most impressive from the star wide receiver.
After the game, head coach Jeff Brohm revealed that Bell was actually injured in Purdue’s win over Northwestern at Wrigley Field. He didn’t practice all week and it was unclear whether the receiver would play in the season finale.
Tom Dienhart reported on Brohm’s comment after the game.
Jeff Brohm said David Bell didn't practice all week. Wasn't sure he would play tody. Bell did, and he led the team with 6 catches for 79 yards and a TD.

Bell ended the 2021 regular season with 1,286 receiving yards and 6 touchdown catches. He is credited with 93 receptions while helping lead Purdue to an 8-4 season.
Purdue will still have one game left this postseason. Will Bell play in the bowl game and try to help the Boilermakers secure a ninth win this season?
