Devin Mockobee and Purdue are looking to get the sour taste of a Week 1 loss out of their mouths. The Boilermakers will have to do so against ACC foe Virginia Tech on the road, but Ryan Walters’ offense had a hot start to the game.

On the opening drive, Purdue rolled 75 yards across 9 players for the game’s opening touchdown on the first possession of the afternoon. The Boilermakers also utilized Mockobee effectively.

The running back finished with 3 carries for 21 yards, including a 15-yard scamper for the touchdown. The score featured some nice moves by Mockobee and a strong finish to find the end zone.

Quarterback Hudson Card also shined on the opening drive by going 4-for-6 for 54 yards. He converted on a pair of key 3rd-down conversions, both going to TJ Sheffield to open the game.

In Week 1, it was not the offense that held the Boilermakers back. We’ll see if the defense can help provide some stops to even things out against the Hokies.
