Drew Brees gives Ryan Walters a lesson on what it means to be a Boilermaker
Drew Brees knows a thing or two about what it takes to be successful at Purdue. Now, he’s trying to pass on that insight to new head coach Ryan Walters.
Walters comes to West Lafayette with noteworthy experience and impressive background. Still, there’s a natural adjustment to any new place, and Walters looked to Brees for some advice on getting started.
Asked by Walters what it means to be a Boilermaker, Brees told the first-time head coach he will be amazed at the support behind him while at Purdue.
“You’ll be amazed at just the type of support you have here and this Purdue family,” Brees explained. “The way that our alumni base feels about their university. I think each of us has a different story, and yet we credit Purdue so much for the opportunities it’s given us in life. We value so much the opportunity to have gone here and we’re so grateful for it.”
Grateful for the wisdom and passion from @drewbrees. Forever a Boilermaker! #Boilerup🚂 #TheBrotherhood https://t.co/SJZYqb2vPc

The program’s all-time leading passer, Brees rejoined his alma mater to help with the coaching transition and to coach during the bowl game. It sounds like he’s doing his best to try and help Walters get off to a strong start, and we’ll see what kind of impact that has on the 2023 season.
