Drew Brees first stint as an analyst did not go as well as his playing career.

The legendary quarterback joined NBC as a studio host and game analyst after his playing days were over. Unfortunately, Brees will not return for a second season with NBC in 2022.

That is per a report from Andrew Marchand with the New York Post. According to Marchand, the decision appears to be mutual as Brees had a bigger desire to work games over serving as a studio analyst for Football Night in America.

Unfortunately, the network did not have many games to offer Brees. Marchand also pointed out the network “soured” on Brees’ potential behind the mic after an up-and-down season in his first as a broadcaster. Brees’ poor performance calling a playoff game between the Cincinnati Bengals and the Las Vegas Raiders was also noted.

While Brees will not return to NBC, fans of the QB may still get a chance to hear him work during the 2022 season. FOX is still working on filling its lineup of broadcasters, so there may be a chance Brees finds a spot to contribute with a new network.
