Drew Brees sets new NFL record for completions
An NFL record now belongs to a Boilermaker.
On Sunday, Drew Brees set a new NFL record, completing pass No. 6,301 in the Saints’ Sunday matchup against the Falcons. That completion put Brees over Brett Favre, who completed 6,300 passes during his professional career.

Brees is in his 18th season in the NFL and 13th season with the Saints. He was selected by the Chargers in the 2001 NFL Draft.
The former Purdue quarterback has accomplished a lot in his NFL career. He’s an 11-time Pro Bowl selection, a two-time Offensive Player of the Year, a seven-time passing yards leader and a Super Bowl champion.
In addition to his 6,301 completions, Brees is approaching 500 career touchdown passes. In the first two games of the season, Brees has thrown for 682 yards and five touchdowns without an interception.
Although Brees is nearly 40 years old, he doesn’t seem to be showing any signs of slowing down. He could own a few more NFL records before he finally calls it a career.
