Purdue has landed its signature recruit of the 2020 class.

Saturday evening, the Boilermakers received a commitment from four-star running back Tirek Murphy, a priority target for Jeff Brohm and staff. The elite back made his announcement via Twitter.

“Making this decision was tough but ultimately I’m ready,” Murphy wrote. “This process was crazy but I know where I want to be. I will be committing to Purdue University BOILER NATION STAND UP!”

Murphy is a huge get for the Boilermakers and is the highest-rated recruit in Purdue’s 2020 class. He’s the No. 18 running back and the No. 218 overall player in the cycle, according to 247Sports composite rankings.

A native of Middle Village, New York, Murphy is listed as the top player from the state.

Purdue was one of seven B1G programs to offer the four-star running back. Murphy chose the Boilers over offers from Michigan, Michigan State, Maryland, Indiana, Nebraska and Rutgers, among several offers.

With Murphy’s commitment, Purdue made a significant jump in the recruiting rankings. The Boilermakers now stand 10th in the B1G and 58th nationally. They have five members who have given their verbal pledge.
