ESPN’s FPI has given a prediction for Jeff Brohm’s squad on Saturday. Purdue is staying in-state, with a matchup against Indiana State.

The Boilermakers lost a heartbreaker to Penn State in Week 1, 35-31. Purdue played a near perfect game when it came to protecting the football, only having 1 turnover.

Iowa transfer Charlie Jones had a great debut, and caught 12 passes for 153 yards receiving and 1 touchdown. Aidan O’Connell also looked like his old self from last season with 356 yards passing with 1 touchdown. What cost Purdue the game was some poor clock management in the 4th quarter that gave Sean Clifford too much time.

Purdue should have an easier time in Week 2, as the Football Power Index gives the Boilermakers a 98.9% chance to win on Saturday. Purdue has played Indiana State 5 times, and is 5-0 against the Sycamores.

Purdue will also be honoring the 3 Indiana State students who lost their lives in a car accident with a moment of silence before the game. 2 of the students were on the football team.

Perhaps Jones can replicate his Week 1 numbers from his debut with Purdue in Week 2. Looks like he’s glad to not be at Iowa anymore, especially after the South Dakota State game.

Indiana State beat North Alabama 17-14 in Week 1. Purdue and Indiana State play Saturday at 4 p.m. ET on BTN.
