Purdue is looking to improve to 2-1 on the season in a road trip to Syracuse, where the Orange look to improve to 3-0.

ESPN’s FPI, as it does with all Division 1 college football games this season, predicted the outcome of Purdue and Syracuse’s brawl. The index has Purdue as slight underdogs, with only a 41.8% chance of winning on the road.

An interesting storyline form this one is the quarterback battle of Aidan-O’Connell and Garrett Shrader. Both signal callers have thrown for over 500 yards and exactly 5 touchdowns this season, but O’Connell seems to have the advantage on receivers. Charlie Jones has accounted for 4 of those 5 touchdown connections, adding 21 receptions and 286 yards on the year to boot.

Syracuse has the W in the rushing column, though. The Orange’s Sean Tucker has rushed for 212 yards and a pair of touchdowns this season in wins over UConn and Louisville. Not half bad.

Purdue’s rush defense is holding up well in the early going, allowing just 74 yards per game as opposed to Syracuse’s 114.

The game is set to kick off at Noon EST on ESPN2.
