ESPN’s Joe Lunardi updated his latest Bracketology look for the NCAA Tournament on Tuesday. As of now, the race for the No. 1 seeds is clear with Purdue anchoring its claim for the overall top seed in March Madness.

Lunardi has Purdue, Arizona, Alabama and Houston as the top seeds. Even with the loss to Indiana, it has not dropped the Boilermakers from the top spot in the AP Poll or Lunardi’s projections for the tournament:

It’s both refreshing and rare when the major polls make sense. This is one of those times, as Purdue managed to lose narrowly at rival Indiana and retain its No. 1 ranking. The Boilermakers clearly have the best NCAA tournament résumé, but pollsters typically miss or ignore that on a week-to-week basis. The result is that, at least for now, there is true consensus on the nation’s No. 1 team. Enjoy it while it lasts!

As for the rest of the B1G, Lunardi has 8 total teams making the final field, but the projections are less than optimal for the rest of the conference. Rutgers and Indiana — projected as 5 seeds — would be the next highest seeds out of the B1G.

We’ll see if those projections hold true or if any team can shake things up down the stretch.
