A former Purdue linebacker has been dismissed from the Florida State football program, according to a report from 247Sports.

Cornel Jones, who spent a bulk of his college career at Purdue, has been dismissed at Florida State. A school spokesperson confirmed his dismissal with 247Sports late Thursday night. Jones transferred to Florida State as a walk-on.

Jones has been removed from the Seminoles’ 2020 online roster. A reason behind his dismissal was not mentioned.

In three seasons at Purdue, Jones appeared in 27 games and made 15 starts. He totaled 99 tackles which includes 15.5 for stops and 3.5 sacks. He had one year of eligibility remaining.

Last year, Jones played in six games and collected 25 tackles. His best season came in 2018 when he tallied 69 total stops with 12.5 tackles in the backfield. All 3.5 sacks were collected that year, as well.
