Cincinnati Bengals safety Ricardo Allen has announced he will be retiring from the NFL after 8 seasons. The news comes a week after the Bengals were defeated 23-20 by the Los Angeles Rams in Super Bowl LVI.
Allen spent 1 season in Cincinnati. He spent the first 7 years of his career with the Atlanta Falcons. He was a member of 2 teams that played in a Super Bowl during his time in the league.

Prior to his career in the NFL, Allen was a star safety at Purdue. Allen was credited with 250 tackles, 14.5 tackles for loss, 13 interceptions and 11 pass break-ups over 4 years in West Lafayette. He also had 4 career pick-sixes.
As a senior in 2013, Allen had 53 tackles, 6 interceptions and 3 pass break-ups. He went on to be a fifth-round selection in the 2014 NFL Draft, selected by the Falcons.
Allen will retire from the NFL with 355 total stops, 26 pass break-ups and 11 interceptions.
