Former Purdue defensive coordinator Nick Holt is a head coach again, but this time he’s landed a job overseas.

Gold and Black Illustrated reported that Holt is taking the job as the head coach of the Skorpions Varese American Football in Italy. He had previously served as Purdue’s defensive coordinator from 2017-19 and had been on Jeff Brohm’s staff since 2014, dating back to Western Kentucky.

Holt was the head coach at Idaho in 2004-05 but his run ended after just two seasons. The Vandals were 5-18 during those two seasons and Holt departed to take over as the defensive coordinator and defensive line coach at USC.

In 2016, after Jeff Brohm accepted the head coaching job at Purdue, Holt was named the interim head coach at Western Kentucky for the team’s Boca Raton Bowl appearance. The Hilltoppers defeated Memphis 51-31 to finish the year with an 11-3 record.

Holt has also had stops at UNLV, Louisville, Washington and Arkansas during his college coaching career. He takes more than 30 years of experience on a college sideline to Italy.
