An old Purdue LB made headlines on Saturday as he has become the winningest coach in school history at FCS Illinois State.

Head coach of the Redbirds, Brock Spack, has won 87 games all-time with the team. Illinois State defeated Eastern Illinois 31-24 to give Spack his 87th win with the program. Spack is a former Purdue LB and DC.

Spack spent 12 years with the Boilermakers staff as the DC under head coach Joe Tiller. Spack has been the HC of the Redbirds since the 2009 season.

In 13 seasons with the Redbirds, Spack has an overall record of 85-53 for a 61.5% winning rate.

Spack has created a powerhouse in one of the toughest conferences in FCS. The Missouri Valley Conference has teams like North Dakota State, South Dakota State, Northern Iowa, and others who routinely make and go deep into the FCS playoffs.

The Redbirds this season are 2-1 on the season with wins over Butler and Eastern Illinois and a loss against FBS opponent Western Michigan.

The Redbirds face Missouri State next weekend at 3:30 ET on ESPN+.
