Former Purdue OL receives invite to inaugural XFL Draft
Kirk Barron didn’t hear his name called during the 2019 NFL Draft, but the former Purdue offensive lineman is still pursuing a career in professional football.
Sunday morning, Barron posted an image of an email from Oliver Luck, the current CEO and commissioner of the XFL, inviting the former Boilermaker to the league’s draft. According to the email, the draft will be held in February 2020.
“Thank you (XFL) for giving me another opportunity to play the game I love,” Barron wrote on Twitter.

Barron was an anchor on Purdue’s offensive line during his career. He started every game from 2016-2018, and made 39 straight starts for the Boilermakers. He has plenty of experience on the front lines.
Unfortunately for Barron, that didn’t translate into a call on draft day. But the former Boiler will get another opportunity to prove himself in the XFL.
