Former Purdue QB set to start for Arizona Cardinals in Week 17, per HC Kliff Kingsbury
Former Purdue quarterback David Blough will get the start for the Arizona Cardinals in Week 17, Arizona Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury announced.
Blough will be going up against the Atlanta Falcons in a road game. Blough will be Arizona’s 4th starter in the last 4 weeks. After Kyle Murray suffered a season-ending injury, backup quarterback Colt McCoy started for the Cardinals in Week 15.

McCoy suffered a concussion against the Broncos in Week 15 and missed the home game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Christmas. McCoy was expected to start in Week 17, but he was dealing with concussion symptoms. When McCoy missed last week’s game, Trace McSorley received the start.
The Cardinals fell short to the Buccaneers in an overtime loss. Instead of McSorley starting again, Kingsbury opted to start Blough for the second-to-last game of the season. Blough bounced around with several teams this season and he will close out the season with the Cardinals. He was with the Detroit Lions in the offseason and the Minnesota Vikings signed Blough to the practice squad in September before the start of the season.
Following Murray’s injury, the Cardinals signed Blough off the Vikings’ practice squad on Dec. 14. He will have a chance to win in Week 17.
