Just hours after signing a two-year contract with the Detroit Pistons, former Purdue star Carsen Edwards lit up the Indiana Pacers.

Edwards came off the bench to score 13 points, dish out 9 assists and collect 3 rebounds in Detroit’s 121-117 win over Indiana on Sunday. He was 5-of-15 from the floor in 31 minutes of action, including 2-of-6 from behind the 3-point line.

It was Edwards’ debut for the Pistons. He scored his first bucket just a few seconds after hitting the floor for the first time with Detroit.

Edwards was signed to a two-year deal, per The Athletic’s Sham Charania just hours before the Pistons hit the floor at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. He spent most of the year in the G-League, averaging 26.7 points and 4.1 assists in 31 games with the Salt Lake City Stars.

Edwards was the No. 33 overall selection in the 2019 NBA Draft by the Boston Celtics. Early in his career, the former Boilermaker has played in both the G-League and the NBA.

While at Purdue, Edwards appeared in 108 games and made 94 starts. He was a two-time All-B1G player and averaged 17.8 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game in three seasons with the Boilers.
