One of the least surprising decisions of the offseason was announced Monday evening.

Purdue star and big-time defensive end prospect George Karlaftis officially announced that he is declaring for the 2022 NFL Draft. Though head coach Jeff Brohm had indicated Karlaftis would not be back next season, the star Boilermaker addressed the fans and revealed his decision:

“The last few years at Purdue have been the best years of my life,” wrote Karlaftis in a note on Twitter. “I have grown both on and off the field through the support and guidance of God, my family, friends, coaches, teammates, support staff, and, of course, our amazing fans.

“After careful prayer and thought, I’ve decided to take the next step and declare for the NFL Draft…I will always bleed black and gold.”

Karlaftis finishes his Purdue career with 97 total tackles, 29 TFL, and 14 sacks. He also defended 4 passes, forced 2 fumbles, and recovered 2 fumbles this season.

Best of luck to Karlaftis as he makes the jump to the NFL next season!
