Purdue’s defense had a tremendous performance vs. the solid and steady offense of Iowa in Week 7.

Purdue only allowed 271 total yards of offense and 17 first downs from Iowa throughout the entire game. One of the most impactful players against the highly efficient offensive line was junior defensive end George Karlaftis.

In the game against Iowa, Karlaftis was unstoppable as he pressured Iowa quarterback Spencer Petras constantly. According to Pro Football Focus, Karlaftis accounted for 10 pressure on the Iowa offense. This is the most in a single game against Iowa’s O-line during Pro Football Focus’ College era.

Karlaftis finished the game with 1 solo tackle, 1 sack, and 1 tackle for loss.

Karlaftis came into the 2021 season as one of the top defensive ends in the nation. Before the season, he was rated by CBS Sports as the sixth-best overall 2022 NFL Draft prospect. He was also placed as the second-best defensive end behind Oregon’s Kayvon Thibodeaux.
