Here's what Jeff Brohm said after Purdue's win over Illinois
Purdue edged out Illinois 13-9 on Saturday afternoon to earn its third win of the season.
This game was a battle of field goals until late in the fourth quarter when the Boilermakers finally got in the end zone to take the lead for good.
Purdue used two starting quarterbacks on Saturday, getting solid production out of both Jack Plummer and Aidan O’Connell. Boilermakers coach Jeff Brohm was reluctant to say who would start the game next week.
Jeff Brohm: Will see where we are at on Monday before deciding on who will be the No. 1 QB.

Brohm did say he thought O’Connell was effective at moving the ball while Purdue’s running game lagged behind.
Jeff Brohm: Thought Aidan O'Connell did a good job. Needed him with run game struggling.

Jeff Brohm: We have a lot of work to do (in the run game).

Speaking of Purdue quarterbacks, Brohm mentioned that former Boilermakers legend Drew Brees spoke to the team on Saturday.
Jeff Brohm: Drew Brees talked to the team before the game.

Here’s a few more thoughts from Brohm following Purdue’s 13-9 win over Illinois:
Head coach Jeff Brom says he switched out his quarterbacks when the play went one dimensional, and they had to throw instead of run the ball. #purduefootball

Jeff Brohm: Abdur-Rahmaan Yaseen typically only practices every other day as he comes off knee surgery.

Brohm says David Bell still out. He will reevaluate his situation later this week.

Jeff Brohm: Proud of Milton Wright. Plays second fiddle to others and he stepped up. Made plays. Played hard.

Jeff Brohm: I like both of our QBs. Jack was a little off on short throws. Felt because we became one-dimensional, we went with Aidan. Aidan is our most accurate passer. Made second-level throws.

Purdue is now 3-1 on the season and will host Minnesota in Week 5. The Golden Gophers lost to Bowling Green on Saturday and are 2-2 in 2021.
