Hudson Card was a big-time quarterback prospect in the 2020 recruiting class. Unfortunately, the former 4-star prospect has mainly served as a backup during his time at Texas.

After backing up Sam Ehlinger, Casey Thompson and Quinn Ewers to begin his career, Card hit the transfer portal at the conclusion of the 2022 season. Now, Card’s on the move with ESPN’s Pete Thamel reporting a B1G destination for the QB.

According to Thamel, Card is expected to land at Purdue as a key QB for first-year head coach Ryan Walters. If Thamel’s report holds true, it would be a big boost for the program after losing longtime start Aidan O’Connell to the NFL and 4-star freshman Brady Allen to the transfer portal.

During the 2022 season, Card appeared in all 12 games while backing up Ewers. He threw for 928 yards and completed 69.4% of his passes with 6 touchdowns and an interception. Across three seasons, Card has just over 1,500 yards and 11 touchdowns to just 2 interceptions.

Coming out of high school, Card was a 4-star prospect and the No. 2 dual-threat QB in the country per the 247 Sports Composite Rankings. We’ll see if Card can provide a boost to the Boilermakers for Walters’ first season as head coach in West Lafayette.
