Jack Plummer transferred out of Jeff Brohm’s program in Nov. of 2021, and went to Cal. He is now the starting quarterback there, and has been getting his teammates ready to take on Notre Dame per Sam Marsdale of 247Sports.
Plummer has 546 yards passing with 4 touchdowns and 2 interceptions in the two games that he has played for Cal so far. At the end of the day, he wants to take in the surreal environment at South Bend, but the team’s goal is to ultimately win the game against the Fighting Irish.
Yeah, I think that’s kind of the message. I’ve been telling them what the venue is like. Yeah, it’s cool, but guess what? There’s a game to play. We’re playing football. It doesn’t matter the team we’re playing. We just got to go out there and play the way we know how to play, and we’ll be good. Things will take care of themselves. That’s been something that I’ve kind of been trying to portray to the guys.
Last season, Plummer led Purdue against Notre Dame. The Boilermakers lost that game 27-13, but Plummer had 187 yards passing with 1 touchdown. Plummer believes that he will not be nervous much like last time, due to the fact that he has played in game like it before with Purdue.
“We did a good job of taking each game week by week,” said Plummer. “I wouldn’t say I was more nervous than any other game, but just — I think I settled in pretty quickly there. It was just a surreal experience, but I think I settled in pretty quick.”
Cal and Notre Dame kick off Saturday at 2:30 p.m. ET on NBC/Peacock.
