Jaden Ivey’s first double-double powers Purdue’s key win over UNC

A huge non-conference game in College Basketball snuck through a loaded day of football as No. 6 Purdue took on No. 18 North Carolina in the Cheez-It Hall of Fame Tip-Off Tournament in Uncasville, CT. Purdue had a big performance in the first half, outscoring North Carolina 41-35. The Boilermakers would go on to win the big matchup versus North Carolina 93-84.

North Carolina had some strong performances from their big men as the team accounted for 12 offensive rebounds and 5 blocks. Purdue was more efficient in shot selection and had more impact coming from the bench. Purdue had 28 points from the bench while North Carolina only had 14 points from the bench.

Purdue senior forward Trevion Williams accounted for 20 points shooting 8-of-10 in field goals off the bench. Sophomore guard Jaden Ivey accounted for 22 points shooting 8-of-17 in field goals while leading the team in total rebounds with 10. This was Ivey’s first career double-double.

Senior guard Sasha Stefanovic was an electric shooter for Purdue. He led the team in total points accounted for with 23 while shooting 7-of-13 in field goals and 5-of-11 from the three-point arc.


Purdue (4-0) will face No. 5 Villanova (3-1) in the next round of the Hall of Fame Tip-Off Tournament.
