Jeff Brohm confirms departure of Purdue stars David Bell, George Karlaftis for 2022
Purdue will not be getting back two key pieces for 2022, head coach Jeff Brohm confirmed Sunday afternoon.
Following Championship Weekend, Purdue finally found out the bowl destination for the 8-4 Boilermakers. That will be a Music City Bowl appearance vs. an SEC foe in Tennessee.
While Brohm was unable to say if David Bell or George Karlaftis would play in that game, Brohm was able to share that the star duo will not be back in 2022. The two juniors are expected to be high picks in the NFL Draft after strong careers in West Lafayette.
Jeff Brohm said George Karlaftis and David Bell won’t be back in 2022. Not a surprise. Not sure if they will play in bowl game.

Bell captured the B1G’s WR of the Year Award after 93 catches for 1,286 yards and 6 touchdowns. Bell also posted two games of 200 yards receiving and has almost 3,000 yards receiving for his career.
Karlaftis recorded 10 TFL and 4.5 sacks this year while drawing most of the attention from opposing offenses. He has 29 TFL and 14 sacks in his career.
When it comes to quarterback Aidan O’Connell, Brohm does not yet have an update on his 2022 status. O’Connell eclipsed 3,100 yards passing with 19 touchdowns and a 73.5% completion percentage.
No decision yet from Aidan O’Connell if he will back in 2022. Jeff Brohm expects a decision in next few weeks.
