Boilermakers head coach Jeff Brohm has announced his starting quarterback for Saturday’s contest against No. 2 Iowa.

It shouldn’t be a surprise to many as Aidan O’Connell will keep his starting job against the Hawkeyes.

O’Connell has had an up and down season for the Boilermakers but they are 3-2 so far in his starts. He currently has 743 yards passing with 4 touchdowns to 5 interceptions.

Those numbers are worse than what everyone saw from him in both 2020 and 2019. In 2020, O’Connell finished with 916 yards passing with 7 touchdowns to 2 interceptions, while in 2019, he had 1,101 yards passing with 8 touchdowns to 4 interceptions.

He’s going to have to be even better than he was against Minnesota on Oct. 2 if Purdue has any shot of beating Iowa. In that contest, O’Connell threw for 372 yards with 1 touchdown pass.

It’s a tall order but that’s why anything can happen in college football. Kickoff will be at 3:30 p.m. ET from Iowa City this Saturday.
