Jeff Brohm admits he may have asked too much of his quarterback over the weekend. Saturday was a rough one for the Purdue Boilermakers as they faced off against the Iowa Hawkeyes and were defeated, 24-3.

Brohm in Monday’s press conference knew the main topic of conversation would be regarding quarterback, Aidan O’Connell, and well, he responded.

Brohm said that he may have had O’Connell throw too much in Saturday’s game. O’Connell struggled to find his footing on a windy day, completing a total of 20-of-43 passes for 168 yards and two interceptions.

O’Connell was sacked a total of 3 times and every time it happened was on a huge down, including a 14-yard loss at the 2-yard line. It wasn’t just O’Connell that struggled, Purdue’s receivers were not able to separate away from Iowa’s defense.

When the receivers could get away, O’Connell then was in the middle of it all with nowhere to go. The conditions obviously had some impact on the passing attack, and Brohm at least sounds regretful that he didn’t get the ground game moving more against the Hawkeyes.

Purdue will head against No. 21 Illinois in another B1G showdown for a noon ET kickoff.
