Jeff Brohm explains Purdue's success vs. Top 5 teams this season during Jim Rome Show appearance
This weekend Purdue faces a No. 6 Ohio State team looking to close out the 2021 regular season strong and contend for a College Football Playoff spot.
But the Boilermakers may have something to say about it, and they have history on their side.
In their history, Purdue has 17 wins over top-5 teams while entering games unranked. Granted, Ohio State is just a notch below, but for the sake of argument it won’t really matter.
Their 40-29 upset over No. 8 Michigan State last weekend, and an earlier in the season upheaval of then-No. 2 Iowa just goes to show that the Boilermakers need to be taken seriously. While the win of the Spartans did serve to clear a path for Ohio State to lay claim to the top spot in the B1G East, this Saturday is the chance for them to give them a shove off those rails.
During an interview on Tuesday with CBS Sports Network host Jim Rome, Purdue head coach Jeff Brohm emphasized that against the Buckeyes, the Boilermakers need to “play aggressive, in all segments.”
