On Monday, Purdue head coach Jeff Brohm announced that David Bell had entered concussion protocol after suffering an injury during Saturday’s game with Notre Dame.

Brohm followed up on Bell’s situation on Thursday afternoon, and said he would be a game-time decision for the Boilermakers upcoming game against Illinois.

Bell was injured when Fighting Irish safety Kyle Hamilton delivered a hit on Bell, driving him to the turf face-first. Bell’s head bounced on the field, and he stayed down for several minutes before being carted from the field. Bell looked dazed and was bleeding from his mouth.

Purdue officials said that the 2019 B1G Freshman of the Year was walking around and surrounded by teams after the game.

The Boilermakers will host the Illini on Saturday, Sept. 25 with a scheduled 2:30 PM CT.
