Jeff Brohm’s team has been struggling with penalties through the first three games of the season. Tom Dienhart of Rivals put Brohm’s comments about penalties on social media.

For reference, Purdue had 138 penalty yards against Syracuse. The 32-29 loss may not have been entirely because of the penalties, but it was definitely a factor. Brohm knows that change is going to start with him.

“Without question, penalties are hurting us, and you cannot win football games with the penalties that we’re getting,” said Brohm. “So, that has to get fixed, and that starts with me. I have to make sure that happens, and we all need to do a better job, including myself.”

At the end of the day, Brohm knows that his team needs to hunker down and focus to correct these mistakes. Purdue has one more non-conference game against FAU before the rest of the schedule is all B1G games the rest of the way.

“We just have to be really, really by the book and keep our mouth shut and coach and play football,” said Brohm.
