Purdue’s season has gotten off to a rocky start, as the Boilermaker’s have dropped games to both Penn State and Syracuse to open 2022. Their lone win against Indiana State in Week 2 puts Purdue in the 6th-ranked spot in the B1G West.

The Boilermakers may not get a lot of help offensively for their upcoming contest with Florida Atlantic on Saturday. Purdue head coach Jeff Brohm announced on Monday that WR Broc Thompson is doubtful and RB King Doerue is questionable for the game.

It’s a big loss for the Boilermakers, as both Thompson and Doerue are big producers for Purdue. Doerue led the team in rushing with 533 yards on 135 carries with a pair of rushing touchdowns last season. The senior RB rushed for 64 yards and a team-high 3 touchdowns before going down with a calf injury this season.

Thompson had career-highs 30 receptions and 457 yards in his first season with the Boilermakers after transferring from Marshall. Thompson was named MVP of last year’s Music City Bowl after recording 7 catches for 217 yards and 2touchdowns in the game.

The extent of Thompson’s injuries is unknown, with Brohm only saying Thompson was “nicked up” after the Boilermakers’ season-opening loss to Penn State.

Hopefully, the Boilermakers can return these two to the field for a winning season.
