Jeff Brohm speaks highly of Tom Allen before Purdue-Indiana renew rivalry Saturday
Purdue and Indiana will renew their rivalry after a short break in 2020 due to a Covid-19 cancellation. The Battle for the Old Oaken Bucket has taken place every year since 1891.
Both Jeff Brohm and Tom Allen have gotten the chance to get to know each other very well since getting hired by their respective teams in 2016. Which is why Brohm was quick to praise Allen and Indiana in a recent press conference.
Indiana won the last meeting in 2019 44-41 in double overtime.
Jeff Brohm on Tom Allen: “Tom’s a good person. I’ve gotten a chance to know him. He’s coached HS in the state, so I know he takes a lot of pride in representing himself and (IU).
“We’re friendly rivals. I wish the best for him. …He’s a good ambassador for the program.”

Allen previously coached high school football for various teams from 1992 to 2006 before accepting his first coaching job at Wabash as a defensive backs and special teams coach.
Purdue (7-4) and Indiana (2-9) meet Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET on FSI as the Boilermakers will look to finish with 8 wins for the first win in Brohm’s career in West Lafayette.
