Jeff Brohm: 'The wheels came off' for Purdue after strong start against Wisconsin
Purdue entered Saturday’s game looking for an upset and hung with the Badgers for a long time.
Despite being big underdogs on the road, the Boilermakers headed to halftime trailing by only a touchdown. Unfortunately, Wisconsin grabbed control of the game late in the third and cruised to a big win in the fourth.
Purdue did force four Wisconsin turnovers, including three fumbles, but the defense never had a serious answer for the Badgers. As a team, Wisconsin put up over 600 yards of offense, including 400 yards on the ground, and converted 9-of-11 third downs. By comparison, the Boilermakers converted 3-of-10 third downs.
After the game, head coach Jeff Brohm admitted that it was a good start, but Purdue simply had the wheels fall off after that. Here’s what Brohm had to say after the loss, including his praise for George Karlaftis:
Jeff Brohm: “I do think we showed some fight early on…. the wheels came off from there.”
