Jeff Brohm updates Aidan O’Connell’s injury outlook entering Week 5

Jeff Brohm certainly wants to get his starting quarterback back in the lineup quickly. Unfortunately, he did not have much to say about Aidan O’Connell’s status following the win over FAU.
O’Connell was held out of Saturday’s game with Austin Burton taking the lead snaps in his absence. After the game, Brohm did not rule out O’Connell for a Week 5 matchup with Minnesota, but he did indicate O’Connell’s issue could take “a couple of weeks.”
Monitoring the status of O’Connell will be something to watch throughout the week.
Brohm on when O’Connell could be back: “It could be next week. It could be a couple of weeks. So, we’ll just play it by ear.”

There’s no doubt O’Connell is one of the best QBs in the B1G and a true leader for the Boilermakers. He has completed 64% of his passes this season for 1,000 yards and 8 touchdowns to just 1 interception.
In Saturday’s win, Burton completed 21-of-29 passes for 166 yards and 3 touchdowns with an interception. He also utilized his legs with 15 yards rushing in the win.
While Burton was productive, the passing attack was not as efficient as it has been early in the year. Going against Minnesota also presents a much bigger challenge than the Owls in Week 4.
