Purdue head coach Jeff Brohm provided a brief update on the quarterback situation heading into the season on Wednesday evening.

It looks like they’ve reached a decision on who will start in the season-opener as it will be Jack Plummer.

This move from Brohm makes a lot of sense after how he played in 2020. He finished the season with 938 yards passing with 8 touchdown passes to 2 interceptions. In 2 years there, he has 19 touchdown passes to 10 interceptions. He has made 9 starts in his career.

Even though Plummer has been named the starter, Brohm also said that they won’t be afraid to use more than 1 quarterback during a game.

Some of this could be coach-speak, but another part of this could be that they have set packages ready for their quarterbacks that they want to use. Aidan O’Connell is another QB that also could get playing time if Brohm decides to use him

With that move, the Boilermakers still face a tough test in Week 1 when Oregon State comes to West Lafayette on Sept. 4.
