Jeff Brohm updates Purdue's kicking situation ahead of Michigan State showdown
Purdue has had some kicking troubles in recent weeks, but it does not look like a change is coming.
Mitchell Fineran started the season well with the Boilermakers, going 19-for-19 on all kicks to start the year. That included hitting his first 7 field-goal tries heading into the game against Minnesota.
Since then, Fineran has gone just 12-for-17 on all kicks, including a 3-for-7 mark on field goals. He missed a field goal in the win over Iowa and went 0-for-2 during the win over Nebraska.
Despite those recent issues, head coach Jeff Brohm said he is not making a change for Week 10. On Thursday, Brohm said Fineran will be the starting kicker for fields goals and extra-point attempts vs. the Spartans:
Despite recent struggles, Mitchell Fineran remains the No. 1 kicker for #Purdue.
“Mitchell will be our starting place kicker with field goals and extra points,” said Jeff Brohm after practice on Thursday.
