Joel Klatt had high praise for his former teammate and recent Purdue hire Ryan Walters.

Walters was hired as head coach for Purdue earlier this week, taking over after Jeff Brohm left for Louisville. Walters comes from Illinois, where he was the defensive coordinator for one of the best defenses in the country.

Walters and Klatt played together at Colorado, so the two go way back. Klatt believes the hire will be huge for the Boilermakers. Klatt also pointed out that Walters work ethic is unmatched among head coaches.

“A huge reason Illinois were able to have success to because of their defensive coordinator Ryan Walters. Young guy that is an absolute star in the coaching ranks. I have known Ryan since he was 17 years old. Ryan Walters played with me at the University of Colorado. I can tell you no one will work harder. No one has done more with less.”
