Cam Allen is a name that many Purdue fans know very well by now. Allen played in all 13 games this season and recorded 43 total tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, and 3 interceptions.

Allen announced that he’ll be returning for a fifth year with the Boilermakers in what will be Ryan Walters’ first season at the helm, per Rivals’ Dub Jellison.

Allen will now get to play for a defensive minded coach in Walters. Walters coached the Illinois defense this season. The Fighting Illini held opposing offenses to 12.3 points per game and 263.8 total offensive yards per game under Walters.

The Purdue secondary finished 10th in the B1G in terms of passing yards allowed per game (213.8). Hopefully Walters can improve that portion of the Boilermakers defense in 2023.

This is great news for Purdue fans because it means that Allen will most likely be playing in the Citrus Bowl against LSU. The Tigers are led by first year HC Brian Kelly, who made a name for himself at Notre Dame for many years before heading to Baton Rouge.

That game will be on Jan. 2 with kickoff starting at 1 p.m. ET on ABC.
