Key Purdue safety, former 4-star prospect, opts for transfer portal
Sunday has seen a flurry of transfer portal activity as players around the country try to make decisions ahead of the May 1 deadline. That deadline has also brought about a key decision out of West Lafayette.
Sunday afternoon, safety Marvin Grant has entered the transfer portal. Grant was a key piece of Purdue’s defense in 2020 and 2021 and is a former 4-star prospect from the 2019 recruiting class out of Detroit, Michigan.

During the 2021 season, Grant finished second on the Boilermakers with 76 total tackles. He also had 2.5 TFL, 3 passes defended and a forced fumble. Grant has 92 total tackles, 5.5 TFL and 3 forced fumbles in his career.
Coming out of high school, Grant held a host of top offers, including from Kentucky, Cincinnati, Indiana, Michigan and Minnesota, among others. As always, Grant could withdraw from the portal and return to Purdue, but he is likely to have strong interest from multiple programs in the portal.
