Fittingly, Doerue would punctuate the drive by catching a three-yard touchdown pass from redshirt freshman Jack Plummer for the Boilermakers’ first points of the day.
Plummer’s second touchdown pass, a 16-yard toss to redshirt freshman Payne Durham, allowed Purdue to take a 14-10 lead into the halftime break.
A product of Tascosa High School in Amarillo, Texas, Doerue was a three-star prospect in the 2019 class. He committed to the Boilermakers over Arkansas, No. 13 Minnesota, Nebraska, Ole Miss and others.
Nebraska (4-4) at Purdue (2-6) is currently airing on FOX with Tim Brando and Spencer Tillman on the call.
