Lawrence Johnson, former 5-year Purdue veteran, announces SEC commitment
Lawrence Johnson made the shocking decision to leave to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal back in late December. It would only take a few weeks for him to decide on where to spend the final year of his collegiate year.
On Sunday, Lawrence announced on his Twitter page that he would enroll at Auburn University to play for the Tigers. The defensive tackle is the 7th player to commit to Auburn, the second from a B1G school.

Joining Auburn from a B1G is Maryland defensive lineman Mosiah Nasili-Kite.
In 38 games played in 4 years at Purdue, Lawrence accumulated 88 total tackles, 49 solo tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, a forced fumble, and a pass breakup. The 2021 season was his best statistical season at Purdue he accounted for 34 total tackles, 23 solo tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, and a sack.
Lawrence is a former 3-star defensive tackle from Fort Wayne, Indiana in the 2018 recruiting class. He was the 104th-rated defensive tackle and the 15th-rated prospect from the state of Indiana, according to 247Sports Composite.
