Matt Painter had a message for his team in the locker room after beating West Virginia on Thursday. The Purdue coach wanted to make sure Purdue is focusing on the right things.
Purdue beat West Virginia 80-68 in the Phil Knight Legacy tournament. Zach Edey had a breakout game with 24 points and 12 rebounds. Although Edey had a great game, Painter emphasized to his players how deep Purdue is this season.
“We have a very deep team, just in hang in there. Be ready to play,” said Painter. “The other thing to do is celebrate your win. Now when you guys wake up, we got to get ready. We got to get rolling, alright? For our next game, but celebrate this win. Feel good about this win.”
🎉 Celebrate the win.
