Expectations for Wright were high heading into 2022, especially after David Bell’s departure to the NFL. Wright finished 2021 as the team’s second-leading receiver with 732 receiving yards and led the team with 7 receiving touchdowns. He also had a 200-yard, 3-touchdown performance in the win over Northwestern.
If this is indeed the end of Wright’s time with the Boilermakers, he finishes with 1,325 career receiving yards and 10 touchdowns. Though his absence will be a blow for 2022, it will be interesting to see who rises to the top of Purdue’s receiving room.
