Purdue will now know who it is facing when Nevada’s offense takes the field on Aug. 30.

Stadium’s Brett McMurphy reported that Carson Strong will be the starting quarterback for the Wolf Pack for the season opener in less than two weeks. Nevada hosts Purdue in Week 1 in a Friday night showdown.

Strong was in a battle with former Independence Community College quarterback Malik Henry for the No. 1 spot. Henry was also a featured star on the Netflix docuseries Last Chance U.

A battle ensued when Cristian Solano suffered a hand injury that will keep him sidelined for at least a portion of the season. He was expected to be the starter for the Wolf Pack, as he was the only player with any significant experience at the position.

The matchup on Friday, Aug. 30 has a 9:30 p.m. ET kickoff. The game will air on CBSSN.
