There’s a new favorite to win the B1G West, at least according to College GameDay host Rece Davis.

Saturday morning, the College GameDay crew made early picks for the showdown between Wisconsin and No. 25 Purdue, with a lot of hype on the Boilermakers after a 24-7 upset victory over No. 2 Iowa one week ago.

What wasn’t too surprising was that all three analysts — Desmond Howard, David Pollack and Kirk Herbstreit — picked Purdue to defeat Wisconsin and improve to 5-2 on the season. But Davis made an interesting remark to close out the segment.

“Not only am I picking Purdue to win, I think they’re going to the B1G Championship Game,” Davis said on Saturday morning.

That’s quite the credit to Jeff Brohm and his staff. Entering the season, Purdue was picked to finish near the bottom of the B1G with many just hopeful to make a bowl game. The expectations changed after a colossal road win against Iowa.

Purdue is 4-2 on the season with losses to Notre Dame and Minnesota. The Boilermakers are trying to snap a 14-game losing streak to Wisconsin on Saturday and get a step closer to a potential spot in Indianapolis.

Still ahead on the schedule is Nebraska, No. 9 Michigan State, No. 5 Ohio State, Northwestern and Indiana after this week. It’s no easy path, if the Boilers are to get to Lucas Oil Stadium.
