One of Purdue’s all-time great players made a trip back to West Lafayette for Saturday’s game against Illinois.

Heading into the battle for the Purdue Cannon trophy, former Boilermaker QB Drew Brees made a visit to the locker room to see the team. The recently retired quarterback was a star at Purdue before breaking multiple NFL records over his career.

During his speech, Brees hammered home the incredible opportunity that the Boilermakers find themselves in:

“I can tell you this right now,” said Brees. “There’s no better time to be a Boilermaker than right now… No better time to be playing Boilermaker football than right now.”

It will not be an easy battle with Purdue missing some key players, including star receiver David Bell, but Brees’ speech will get you amped up for the rest of the contest:
