Purdue wide receiver Rondale Moore has garnered his fair share of headlines for the Boilermakers, especially with Saturday’s absence for an undisclosed reason.

But there is another Purdue wideout David Bell has definitely stepped up as a No. 1 option for the Boilermakers. He’s done it both in recent appearances dating back to last season and against Iowa.

Let’s start with his overall performance. In his last four games, Bell has caught 48 passes for 480 yards and 6 touchdowns. That math leads to Bell averaging 10 yards per catch and a touchdown every eight receptions.

Those numbers include Bell’s wild start to the 2020 season on Saturday. He caught 13 passes for 121 yards and three touchdowns. He is the first Boilermaker with three touchdowns since Terry Wright caught that many in 2018 against…Iowa.

Wright isn’t the only receiver to own the Hawkeyes. Besides Bell’s solid performance on Saturday, he also did it in 2019 against Iowa.

Bell is doing all of this just as a sophomore, which means there is plenty of room for growth and improvement. Not to mention, Bell will have some pressure taken off him whenever Moore is inserted back into the starting lineup.

While not garnering a ton of attention, Purdue might have a top-notch one-two punch at wideout.
